Favourite Markets in Cape Town

Love browsing through markets in a new city? I first discovered how interactive and engaging markets can be when we were stuck in Rio de Janeiro for a couple of weeks due to boat problems. The Saturday markets in Cape Town became a highlight of the week with the tasting of new foods and interacting with the locals in their suburbs, away from the touristy places.

4. Bay Harbour Market
Located in Hout Bay, this weekend market showcases local art, crafts, and a diverse range of food options, complemented by live music. Open Fridays (5 pm–9 pm) and weekends (9:30 am–4 pm). A nice stop before you travel the scenic Chapman’s Peak route.

Set on the Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West, this market offers gourmet foods, crafts, and family-friendly activities. A fantastic day out.
